Valley Fiesta

08 September, 2016

Lord Mayor Graham Quirk has announced the Valley Fiesta will return from 28 to 30 October even bigger and brighter, to mark 20 years of Brisbane’s favourite street party.

Cr Quirk said the special anniversary edition would showcase the best of the Valley’s exciting mix of music, arts and food for residents and visitors of all ages.

“Valley Fiesta has become a focal point of Brisbane’s social calendar, exposing the best of the precinct’s unique and vibrant culture, cuisine and talent,” Cr Quirk said.

“After last year’s success, the event will once again have a jam packed program across the three day event to celebrate two decades since our city’s longest running free music event launched in 1997.

“The event will also provide a valuable boost for the local economy with local businesses showcasing special offers for punters and hosting events at venues throughout the weekend.”

The twentieth Valley Fiesta will feature the return of the popular Fiesta Laneway Series in Winn Lane and Bakery Lane, with market stalls, music and alfresco dining pop-ups reflecting each individual laneway.

Cr Quirk said venues at the Chinatown and Brunswick Street Malls would provide the focus for the event’s entertainment and music line-ups, offering a diverse range of entertainment and music across three live stages.

“Brunswick Street East will host the Valley Fiesta main stage and headliner acts, while busking auditions will allow some of our city’s best unsigned musical talent to shine on the Brunswick Street Mall Stage,” he said.

“A multicultural showcase will also take place in Chinatown Mall, featuring a display of cultural performances from around the world.

“Keep your eyes peeled for the full line-up of local and national artists, which will be revealed when the official program is announced in coming weeks.

“This city’s creative culture is integral to Brisbane’s offering as Australia’s New World City, and I encourage residents and visitors to take time out to celebrate 20 years of this iconic free event.”
