Parklands transform into food truck hot spot

Lord Mayor Graham Quirk is inviting Brisbane food lovers to take a taste journey around the world on Friday evening with at the inaugural Park the Truck event.

The Lord Mayor said the Park the Truck event, held at Roma Street Parklands would feature some of Brisbane’s most popular food trucks.

“Park the Truck will bring together 13 food trucks showcasing flavours from all over the world,” Cr Quirk said.

“Brisbane residents have truly embraced street food culture, and this event is another great chance to enjoy good food and live music on the beautiful Celebration Lawn at the Parkland.

“Park the Truck is just one of the many diverse cultural events that Council is proud to support as part of our vibrant, creative city.”

The food trucks taking part in the inaugural event are: The Bun Mobile, Goat Pie Guy, King of the Wings, Little Back, Oi! Taco, Fiery Deli, Fire‘N’Dough, Yummi Fruit Ice-Creamery, Juicy Jungle, Flinders Coffee, ChipTease, German Hut and Vira Lata.

Cr Quirk said the event highlights Roma Street Parkland’s status as an oasis in the heart of Brisbane city and a world class destination for leisure, recreation and events.

“We are proud of how Roma Street Parkland has grown and changed since it was opened in 2001 becoming one of the premier destinations in Brisbane to enjoy our enviable sub-tropical climate,” Cr Quirk said.

“I encourage food and music lovers to head to the Park the Truck event to enjoy good food and music in a beautiful garden atmosphere.”
