Tastes of Asia come to Reddacliff Place

16 February, 2015

Lord Mayor Graham Quirk is inviting Brisbane food lovers to take their tastebuds on a journey through Asia when the popular ‘Taste of Asia’ event returns to Reddacliffe Place on Friday 27 February from 11am to 9pm.

The Lord Mayor said the signature event has returned with extended hours to cover lunch and dinner in response to the events immense popularity at last year’s BrisAsia Festival.

“Taste of Asia returns this month with a wide range of Asian food stalls to tantalise the tastebuds including favourites like gyoza, BBQ pork buns and coconut ice-cream through to more adventurous delicacies,” Cr Quirk said.

“Celebrity chef Adam Liaw will make a guest appearance to discuss his favourite Asian comfort food with cooking demonstrations and in-conversations, so festival goers can learn new tips and new recipes to try at home.

“There will also be roving entertainment and lively performances throughout the event, a live cooking competition and the opportunity to express your creative side at the Vesak lantern workshop while you digest.”

Cr Quirk said the popularity of events like Taste of Asia highlighted Brisbane as a vibrant, creative and multicultural city.

“Council has a strong history of supporting music, performance and multicultural events such as BrisAsia Festival, the Valley Fiesta and Diwali Festival,” Cr Quirk said.

“BrisAsia Festival contributes to the social, cultural and economic wellbeing of the whole community. It helps realise our vision of a vibrant, creative city by delivering high quality cultural, arts and entertainment programs across Brisbane city and suburbs.”

“I encourage Brisbane residents to get out and experience the unique events on offer as part of the BrisAsia Festival.”

This year’s Taste of Asia event is presented by Brisbane City Council and supported by the Treasury Casino and Hotel. Brisbane 612ABC is the official media partner for the 2015 BrisAsia Festival.
