Council launches new-look online development tool

18 December, 2014

Brisbane City Council has launched a smarter, more convenient version of its planning and development self-service web-hub, Property and Development Online.

Lord Mayor Graham Quirk said the new-look PD Online system was more user-friendly, making it easier for customers to understand the Brisbane City Plan 2014 and locate information about development applications.

“Council’s strategy in upgrading PD Online was to deliver a better customer system which would assist with common development assessment enquiries such as tracking development applications, lodging submissions and submitting property enquiries,” Cr Quirk said.

“A major improvement to the new-look PD Online tool is the “Level of Assessment Calculator”, which helps customers to determine with just a few clicks of the mouse whether their proposed development is self-assessable, code assessable or impact assessable.

“This will assist first-time resident developers and mum and dad renovators by simplifying everyday development assessment queries.

“This handy calculator can be used for the 11 most common development types, which we expect will cover approximately 80 per cent of customer enquiries as part of our commitment to making the development assessment process easier to understand and use.”

Customers can use the updated PD Online tool to:
• search for and track development applications
• lodge submissions
• make property enquiries
• perform a Level of Assessment enquiry for some common development types
• access Brisbane City Plan 2014 and interactive mapping.

Cr Quirk said the ability to access information about specific development applications was of particular importance to residents and developers who might wish to make submissions.

“The new-look PD Online tool makes it even easier for customers to find details of a particular development application, keep track of its progress and make submissions so their views can be considered by Council,” he said.

Cr Quirk said PD Online was first launched in March 2007, and since then around 63,600 development applications had been lodged on the site.

“PD Online is a great resource which not only hosts numerous development applications and their detailed background, for anyone to see, but also has a fantastic user rate with around 177,000 page views on PD Online last financial year.

For more information about PD Online or to access the online tool, visit www.brisbane.qld.gov.au and search ‘PD Online’. [Ends] DECEMBER 17, 2014
