IGA Lord Mayor’s Christmas Carols

01 December, 2014

Lord Mayor Graham Quirk is helping to bring in the festive season with Brisbane’s premier Christmas celebration, the IGA Lord Mayor’s Christmas Carols.

The Lord Mayor said this year’s event would light up Riverstage with performances from some of Australia’s most renowned singers, entertainers and celebrities.

“The annual Christmas carols celebration is a free, all-ages event to help the Brisbane community ring in the festive spirit and spread the Christmas joy with friends and family,” Cr Quirk said.

“This year’s line-up features artists such as Brisbane’s own Katie Noonan, tenor David Hobson, theatre performer Amanda Harrison, reality TV singing sensations Harrison Craig and Darren Percival.

“Attendees will also enjoy live music from a symphony orchestra and a sixty-voice carols choir, dance performances by guest ensembles including Raw Dance Company, and children will enjoy a special appearance from Santa.”

Cr Quirk said this year’s event was in support of Mater Foundation Little Miracles, a charity that helps Queensland’s most vulnerable babies and children in one of Australia’s busiest maternity hospitals.

“In keeping with the spirit of care and goodwill during the festive season, this year’s charity partner for the IGA Lord Mayor’s Christmas Carols is the Mater Foundation Little Miracles,” he said.

“Entry to the event is free and attendees are welcome to make a donation to Mater Little Miracles at the entry gates or at collection points through the evening, with all funds to be passed on directly to the charity.

“Supporting local community festivals is part of our vision for a vibrant, creative city and I encourage residents and visitors across Brisbane to come along and share the Christmas spirit.”
