Council launches online parking portal

14 July, 2014

Brisbane City Council today launched a new online parking hub, designed to provide drivers with the best value car parking options in the CBD, Valley and inner-city.

Deputy Mayor Adrian Schrinner said the web portal had been designed in response to community feedback highlighting the need for more accessible information about inner-city car parking information and deals.

“brisbaneparkingguide.com.au will be a valuable resource to provide drivers with information about the city’s best value off-street car parking,” Cr Schrinner said.

“To assist residents, visitors and retailers, we have worked with car parking traders to deliver an online hub that outlines range of convenient parking options in the city.”

“Our message to motorists is that by planning ahead and using brisbaneparkingguide.com.au they can save both time and money.”

“There are some very competitive parking deals available and brisbaneparkingguide.com.au is all about connecting motorists with the best offers via a single portal.”

Cr Schrinner said that to mark launch of the new service, special limited-time offers for weekend, early bird and evening parking would be advertised on the site.

“Brisbaneparkingguide.com.au will link with visitbrisbane.com.au to move easily between event information and nearby parking options, assisting residents to take advantage of special deals that major parking providers often put on around special events.

To mark the launch of the new parking portal, Council will offer off-peak parking at the discounted rate of $5 at the King George Square and Wickham Terrace car parks between 11 July and 11 August. This is a discount of more than 58 precent on the normal rate of $12.

Wilson Parking, Secure Parking and the Myer Centre will also be offering special deals at selected facilities.

Cr Schrinner said the web portal would offer incentives for visitors and residents to make the most of all the CBD, Valley and inner-Brisbane had to offer.

“This new portal will support the activation of the inner city right throughout the entire week, supporting local businesses and our city’s economic growth,” Cr Schrinner said.

“This is yet another way that Council is supporting the many businesses in our city.

The site was developed by Council in partnership with Brisbane Marketing and private parking operators. Brisbane Marketing will monitor the site to ensure it evolves in line with the needs of motorists.

Cr Schrinner thanked the local parking industry for its assistance with the project.

“By working together we can ensure motorists can easily access information to help them plan their visit to the city,” he said.
