Valley Fiesta First Line Up Announced

14 July, 2014

Lord Mayor Graham Quirk has announced an all-star line-up for Brisbane’s biggest street party, Valley Fiesta to be held on Saturday 23 and Sunday 24 August.

The Lord Mayor said the 2014 line-up was shaping to be one of the biggest yet, with live music continuing to be a major drawcard for visitors to the fiesta.

“The Valley Fiesta will feature headliners including singer songwriter Dan Sultan, rapper Allday, electronic producer Motez, hip hop artist Remi, Indie band Safia and many more,” Cr Quirk said.

“These premier Australian artists will bring colour and excitement to this year’s fiesta and will be popular with residents and visitors to the fiesta.

“This year’s program will continue to celebrate the unique and vibrant culture of Fortitude Valley featuring music, markets, fashion, food and art for a weekend-long party.

“The 2014 Valley Fiesta will include a new daytime program, giving Fiesta-goers the chance to shop, swap, eat, drink and explore as the precinct comes alive like never before.”

Cr Quirk said the Valley Fiesta was a great opportunity to enjoy free entertainment and explore the recently refurbished Brunswick Street Mall in one of Brisbane’s premier music and cultural destinations.

“Council has partnered with over 50 local businesses with one-day only offers and discounts available from some of the Valley’s most popular retailers on Saturday.

“This year the Chinatown Mall will play host to its very own fiesta-themed program from 12pm Saturday with tickets on sale for the Chinatown Chow Down offering four different banquet sittings to enjoy the best of Chinatown’s culinary offerings.

“The Chinatown Mall will then be converted into Brisbane’s Biggest Outdoor Karaoke Bar as the sun goes down on Saturday night, featuring a live ‘Rockaoke’ band and roaming street performers.”

The Sunday program will feature the QMUSIC QLD Music Awards Showcase in the Valley Mall from 2 - 7pm with live performances from home-grown artists, while the Chinatown Mall will host a fabulous afternoon of music as Sunday as One returns for the second year in a row.

Council is excited to present the 2014 Valley Fiesta as one part of a year-long activation program promoting the Valley precinct as a vibrant and safe cultural and entertainment destination.

More artists and acts will be announced on Friday 25 July.
