Council to commence City Plan 2014 Talk to a Planner sessions

14 July, 2014

Brisbane City Council will give residents the opportunity to speak face-to-face with Council officers about City Plan 2014 at six upcoming Talk to a Planner sessions.

The events will provide a forum for residents to discuss how City Plan may apply to existing properties and how it will affect the development application process into the future.

Lord Mayor Graham Quirk said the sessions would run monthly from July to December.

“These sessions will provide a valuable opportunity to gain a detailed understanding of the plan, which will give Brisbane a strategic framework to guide future development until 2031,” Cr Quirk said.

“Residents can simply drop in anytime during the sessions, at a time convenient for them.

“While there is no need to book, attendees can register their interest via Council’s Talk to a Planner reservation line on 07 3178 5500.

“The Talk to a Planner events are the latest in a serious of events to help Industry and residents understand changes under City Plan 2014. Council held Industry Week in June, where targeted information sessions were delivered to planning professionals.”

The development of the new City Plan was a collaborative effort involving Council, residents, community, environment, heritage groups and industry over the last three years.

It involved Brisbane’s largest city-wide planning program in more than a decade, with the online plan receiving more than 50,000 views and more than 20,000 factsheets downloaded.

More than 3000 community members attended information events during the consultation period, resulting in more than 2700 submissions during the development of the plan.
