Fete de la Musique comes to town

10 June, 2014

Lord Mayor Graham Quirk is treating music lovers to a live music extravaganza on Saturday 21 June with the 2014 Fete de la Musique.
The Lord Mayor said this event was about capturing the spirit of music and what it means to Brisbane.

“Brisbane will join the global community as musicians young and old, from all backgrounds, genres and abilities take part in the largest international live music celebration in the world – Fete de la Musique,” Cr Quirk said.

“Plan the day to see as many musical acts as possible around the city. There are no tickets, no box seats and no headlines, just great music.

“This event aims to celebrate music by exposing as many people as possible to the joy of music making on the same day each year across the globe – June 21.”

Cr Quirk said Fete de la Musique Brisbane is a great way for residents to get involved with the largest live music event in the world.
“This event will provide a platform for all people who love making music, whether they are professional musicians or aspiring performers,” Cr Quirk said.
“This event was developed by the French Government in 1982 and today is held in 450 cities across the globe.
“Celebrating our city’s talented musicians is part of my vision for an inclusive city where we nurture and develop our residents’ passions.”
