Feedback closing on Council bus network review

Lord Mayor Graham Quirk is reminding residents today is their last chance to have a say on Council’s bus network review, with submissions closing at midnight.

The Lord Mayor said the review had considered network data and patronage trends across 235 routes.

To date, more than 1,200 pieces of feedback have been received on the network review proposals, and an additional 220 pieces of feedback received on other routes for which there were no changes proposed.

“In taking on this review at the request of the State government, we have identified the most common-sense proposals, which we believe will help deliver an improved and more efficient bus network,” Cr Quirk said.

“More than 68 per cent of passengers will be unaffected by the proposed changes. The highly popular BUZ and Glider routes will also remain largely unchanged.”

The review proposes 9 route removals and 80 service changes of a timetable or route.

Cr Quirk said the review ensured the majority of the travelling public would remain unaffected, with no area left without a service.

“Council’s review is proposing improvements that ensure passenger demand continues to be met, while reducing duplication and improving network congestion along certain corridors,” he said.

Council will consider all community responses before submitting the review to the State Government on 1 June.

Following this, Council will work with the State Government to determine an implementation plan for the approved changes.

Council welcomes the community’s feedback on the bus review via Council’s website www.brisbane.qld.gov.au, however all regular public transport enquiries on drivers, buses, routes and schedules should continue to be directed to TransLink on 13 12 30.
